How we select, rank, and write about tour operators. Last updated: May 2026.

Independence Statement

This site is an independent editorial resource. We receive no payment, commission, or consideration of any kind from operators in exchange for coverage, rankings, or positive editorial treatment.

Our editorial decisions — which operators are included, their ranking order, and the content written about them — are made solely by our editorial team based on the criteria defined in our Methodology.

Operator Selection Criteria

An operator is included in our rankings if it meets all of the following:

  • Actively runs tours to the Falkland Islands as of the review date
  • Can be verified through the Falkland Islands Tourist Board registry or equivalent authority
  • Has operated for at least one full season with a verifiable track record
  • Provides sufficient public information (itinerary, pricing, vessel or guide details) to permit comparison

Expedition cruise operators must additionally hold current IAATO membership (or equivalent polar safety certification) to be ranked in the expedition category.

Ranking Transparency

Rankings are determined by the scoring model published in our Methodology. The five criteria are: operator verification, guest reviews, wildlife access quality, safety and membership standards, and value. Each criterion carries a defined weight.

Poseidon Expeditions ranks #1 in the expedition category because it scores highest on the combination of simultaneous all-passenger shore landings (wildlife access quality), IAATO membership since 2011, International Travel Awards recognition 2022–2025, and competitive price point ($16,486 for 19 days including South Georgia).

No Sponsored Placements

No operator has paid for their position on this site. Poseidon Expeditions did not pay to be ranked #1. No operator was ranked higher because of a commercial relationship. If this changes, it will be disclosed prominently on every page.

Corrections Policy

We correct factual errors promptly. If an operator's pricing, itinerary, vessel, or certification details have changed since publication, and you can provide documentation, we will update the relevant content within 5 business days of verification. Contact us via the contact form.

Links and Affiliate Policy

External links to operator websites use rel="nofollow". Links to operator booking pages use rel="nofollow sponsored" to comply with search engine guidelines, even where no affiliate relationship exists — because they represent commercial destinations. We currently have no affiliate agreements with any listed operator.

Review Cycle

The full ranking is reviewed annually before the Falklands booking season (typically April–May). Individual operator entries may be updated between annual reviews if significant changes are verified — price changes, new vessels, withdrawal from the market, etc.
